Better Farm is open year-round. We are within walking distance of two lakes (with a dozen more within 12 miles), just 10 miles from Alexandria Bay and the Thousand Islands, and a short drive to Watertown and Canada. Three bathrooms, laundry, and kitchenette facilities are available in addition to 65 acres great for snowshoeing, hiking, exploring, and more Wireless Internet, linens, and farm-to-table breakfasts are provided free of charge. Private rooms and cabins range from $50 to $120 per night, or loft spaces are available starting at $35 per night. You can make an overnight or long-term reservation through AirBNB.

Farm tours, field trips and events bookings

Farm tours are available year-round for $10/person. Reservations can be made by emailing info@betterfarm.org or calling (315) 482-2536, Ext. 1.

We offer various field trips customized by age group and activity level. Contact us to set something up! Typical field trip activities options are seasonal and may include but are not limited to:

  • Farm tour (including gardens, cabins, radio station and art studio/gallery, and meet ’n’ greets with animals such as pigs, horse, alpacas, chickens)

  • Farm/property activities options including garden time (planting/harvesting depending on time of year), nature hike in the woods, survival skills like shelters and foraging, planting with seeds/pots participants can take home to grow, tree plantings on property

  • Arts/crafts time using upcycled materials (greeting cards, jewelry making, soap making, mural, seed bombs, bird feeders and suet cakes, custom decorating on reusable bags, etc.)

  • Outdoor activities such as tug of war, relay races

  • Pottery creation (kiln on-site, requires pick-up of finished pieces

  • Outdoor classroom time: nature talks, animal talks, eco-talks, hands-on compost lessons (involves worms and/or black soldier flies)

  • Picnic (farm-to-table lunch provided by Better Farm that can cater to any dietary restriction)

  • Music (playing along with a musician, sing a-longs, listening/dancing to music)

  • Easy cooking classes (healthy snack creation including time to taste what they make)
