Reason 6,382,929 why the Redwood community is simply amazing: When it’s the worst drought in years, neighbors like “Uncle Ted” hop in their Kubotas 10 miles away and just show up with a bale of gorgeous, nutritious hay for the animals here. “Figured they might like some,” he said, rolling it off the back of the ATV and into one of the paddocks as the alpacas and horses wandered over to say hello. We are so grateful for the support our friends, neighbors and extended North Country family show for the work we are doing to make so many animals healthy and happy. 🐴🐔🐶🐱🐷🐪

World Wide Opportunities for Organic Farms, or #wwoof , is a hospitality service providing home stays on organic farms nationally and throughout the world. Volunteers spread the organic movement and learn homesteading and farming skills at registered farms, that in turn provide room and board. And, when it’s 90 degrees out, jumps into lakes. Here are #wwoofers Jill and Illiana enjoying a dip in gorgeous Butterfield Lake after a day of gardening and farm work.

Better Farm house rules.
Three months ago, Biff got into a tussle with a fox who was trying to get into the hen house. Biff was the victor, but had to be put on bed rest. Things were touch and go for a while, as he was unable to lift his head at all and we worried he may have suffered partial paralysis and shock. We’re happy to report that with lots of cuddles, PT and heaps of TLC, this guy is back at 100% these days. Thanks to @jct.photos for documenting his time with us indoors.
Special guest Josh Welch out of Austin, TX stopped by the farm today for a tour and ended up strumming some hammered dulcimer for us live on Better Radio. #serendipity
The new dance floor is almost ready.

Each year, we release the biggest fish from our aquaponics array into the large pond on the property. Today six enormous goldfish that we’ve adopted over the years got to relish their first tastes of true freedom.
