May we raise children who love the unloved things – the dandelion, the worms and spiderlings.
Children who sense the rose needs the thorn
& run into rainswept days the same way they turn towards sun…
And when they’re grown & someone has to speak for those who have no voice
may they draw upon that wilder bond, those days of tending tender things
and be the ones.

Sure is pretty out there.
Seasonal freezes help to regulate pest populations, manage water resources, and provide essential insulation for soil. Ice cover also helps lakes and other water bodies sequester carbon from the atmosphere.
After a pretty relentless drought, the recent rainfall, snow, and ice are helping to regulate things ahead of winter. Keeping this in mind as we crank the wood stove and bundle up—stay warm, friends!
