Better Festival is our biggest event of the year, held on-site at Better Farm in support of our sister organization and local nonprofit, betterArts. BetterArts exists to increase access to the arts in the North Country. The organization has been nationally recognized by the Smithsonian and has received grants from Northern New York Community Foundation, Best Buy, and others to continue its mission, along with the generous support of dozens of individuals and organizations.
All funds raised at Better Festival directly support this effort, including the continuation of free and low-cost art and music workshops, residencies, performances, and cultural events, and support betterArts’ flagship project, Better Radio, broadcasting 24/7 terrestrially on 88.5 FM and online at betterradio.airtime.pro. Learn more about the great work betterArts is doing here. You can show your support of the organization anytime by making a tax-deductible donation.

Performers
Sophistafunk
Mashing up funk, rap, and their distinct brand of positive vibes, Sophistafunk has become widely known on the touring circuit as a rare Hip Hop meets live electronic jam band. Mad scientist Adam Gold is known for his heavy synth basslines and funky vocals. He plays four vintage keyboards at the same time, sometimes even while beatboxing! Gospel-trained drummer and singer Emanuel Washington combines neo-soul with deep house, reggae, and more. Frontman / emcee Jack Brown evokes comparisons from Mac Miller to Michael Frantí, but his lyrical skill and conscious vibes are truly one of a kind.
Berkstar
BerkStar is a Blues/Rock, Jazz/Rock, Funk/Groove act performing incendiary music you can dance to! Raised in the sounds of Soul, Pop and Rock, BerkStar was influenced by all sounds of good music. Referring to his original music as "Groove", he has been able to navigate an amalgam of Jazz, Blues, Funk and Dance. BerkStar will "Let it Fly" for every performance. Bring your dancing shoes!
Adi Shakti World Fusion Bellydance
The members of Adi Shakti have danced together for more than 20 years while honoring their sisterhood and striving to embody the divine feminine. The all-women group from Central and Northern New York range in age from their 40’s to our 70’s and will be bringing a 40-minute set to Better Festival.
Guests are encouraged to bring their instruments for jamming before and after confirmed performances! Contact us with any questions: info@betterarts.org
In addition to a live event, this year’s entire festival will be broadcast terrestrially via our on-site radio station, Better Radio (88.5 FM) and online at http://betterradio.airtime.pro. Learn more about Better Radio at www.betterarts.org/better-radio.
