About US

MISSION STATEMENT:

Better Farm, Inc. is an artists’ retreat and education center set on 65 acres in Redwood, N.Y. Its mission is to adhere all disciplines to the Better Theory, a belief that every experience offers an opportunity for immense personal growth. With this in mind, Better Farm is dedicated to enhancing the local and regional community by offering each individual the opportunity to expand, grow, and flourish sustainably, artfully, and in tandem with the living world around him or her. Better Farm offers the public a living laboratory of organic gardens, alternative building structures and projects, a 1,500-square-foot studio and gallery space, and a blueprint for environmentally conscious living. This “living lab” provides through internships, work-shares, lectures, and classes an unparalleled educational experience set against a backdrop of communal living and an environmentally conscious, artistic way of being.

Better Farm provides community support through volunteer projects, internships, art installations, and year-round, low-cost or free workshops and classes in sustainability, art, yoga, music, and outdoor adventures. The organization additionally hosts free supper clubs and educational movie nights, and schedules monthly community service projects from Earth Day cleanups to public art installations to after-school help and work in community gardens. Better Farm additionally invites the public to witness and participate in performances, gallery openings, and events throughout the year. Better Farm is a premier destination for artists and students alike who are interested in doing “better”: growing from each experience, serving their communities, and creating something through art or energy that benefits the world around them.
